Therapeutic Levels of Anti-Aging Ingredients
Vitamin D has long provided significant support for healthy bone density. However, scientists have also validated the critical role that vitamin D plays in regulating healthy cell division and differentiation, and its profound effects on human immunity. These findings link a deficiency of vitamin D to a host of common age-related problems. The current RDA is only 400 IU. As a result of startling evidence of a widespread vitamin D deficiency, prominent nutritional scientists are calling on Americans to increase their vitamin D intake to 1000 IU per day and higher. Currently, most experts in the field believe that intakes of between 1000 and 4000 IU for adults will lead to a more healthy level of serum.
It is required by the body to use oxygen and the metabolism of amino acids, fatty acids, and carbohydrates. Riboflavin is further needed to activate vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), helps to create niacin and assists the adrenal gland. It may be used for red blood cell formation, antibody production, cell respiration, and growth.
It eases watery eye fatigue and may be helpful in the prevention and treatment of cataracts. Vitamin B2 is required for the health of the mucus membranes in the digestive tract and helps with the absorption of iron and vitamin B6.
Although it is needed for periods of rapid growth, it is also needed when protein intake is high, and is most beneficial to the skin, hair and nails.
Niacin helps the body make various sex and stress-related hormones in the adrenal glands and other parts of the body. Niacin is effective in improving circulation and reducing cholesterol levels in the blood.
Vitamin B6, also called pyridoxine, is one of 8 B vitamins. All B vitamins help the body convert food (carbohydrates) into fuel (glucose), which is "burned" to produce energy. These B vitamins, often referred to as B complex vitamins, also help the body metabolize fats and protein. B complex vitamins are necessary for healthy skin, hair, eyes, and liver. They also help the nervous system function properly.
Along with vitamins B12 and B9 (folic acid), B6 helps control levels of homocysteine in the blood. Homocysteine is an amino acid that may be associated with heart disease. B6 is also necessary for proper absorption of vitamin B12 and for the production of red blood cells and cells of the immune system.
What is folic acid?
- Folic acid, also called folate or folacin, is a B vitamin often lacking in the diet.
- When consumed in adequate amounts by women before and during pregnancy, folic acid reduces the risk of serious birth defects of the brain and spine, called neural tube defects.
- Folates also are needed for cell growth and blood production. As a fetus grows, it takes folates from the mother’s blood, which in turn creates a shortage in the mother.
- Because of their control over homocysteine, an amino acid produced by the body, folates are thought to give some protection against heart disease. High levels of homocysteine in the blood may be a risk factor for heart attacks.
- Additional health benefits associated with folic acid consumption include reduction in depression, colon, cervical, and breast cancers. It also may help prevent memory loss and susceptibility to Parkinson’s disease.
also called cobalamin, is a water soluble vitamin with a key role in the normal functioning of the brain and nervous system, and for the formation of blood. It is one of the eight B vitamins. It is normally involved in the metabolism of every cell of the body, especially affecting DNA synthesis and regulation, but also fatty acid synthesis and energy production. As the largest and most structurally complicated vitamin, it can be produced industrially only through bacterial fermentation-synthesis.
Biotin is an essential water-soluble B vitamin. The name biotin is taken from the Greek word bios meaning "life." Without biotin, certain enzymes do not work properly and various complications can occur involving the skin, intestinal tract, and nervous system. Metabolic problems including very low blood sugars between meals, high blood ammonia, or acidic blood (acidosis) can occur. Death is theoretically possible, although no clear cases have been reported. Recent studies suggest that biotin is also necessary for processes on the genetic level in cells (DNA replication and gene expression).
Vitamin B5 is essential for human growth, reproduction and many normal bodily processes. Vitamin B5 helps metabolize nutrients, manufacture antibodies and produce vitamin D. It also stimulates the healing of wounds. Pantothenic acid is involved in a number of biological reactions, including the production of energy, the catabolism of fatty acids and amino acids, the synthesis of fatty acids, lipids, cholesterol and steroid hormones, and the production of both coenzyme A, and the cellular antioxidant glutathione. Vitamin B5 is critical to the manufacture of red blood cells as well as sex and stress-related hormones produced in the adrenal glands (small glands that sit atop of the kidneys). Supplements are sometimes used to treat symptoms of allergy and a wide range of skin conditions.
Selenium is an essential mineral found in trace amounts in the body. It works as an antioxidant, especially when combined with vitamin E, by scavenging damaging particles in the body known as free radicals. Free radicals can damage cell membranes and DNA, and may contribute to aging and a number of conditions, including heart disease and cancer. Antioxidants, such as selenium, can neutralize free radicals and may reduce or even help prevent some of the damage they cause.
Selenium plays a role in thyroid function and is needed for the immune system to work properly. People with a number of conditions, ranging from rheumatoid arthritis to some types of cancer, often have low levels of selenium. However, in most cases scientists aren't sure whether low selenium levels are a cause or an effect of the disease.
Chromium polynicotinate is an equally effective assimilated form of chromium which some researchers suggest may have more benefits for certain conditions than does the picolinate form. A recent study on antidepressant pharmacotherapy for dysthymic disorder (depression) in 5 patients showed that chromium polynicotinate supplementation led to remission of dysthymic symptoms and concluded that preliminary observations suggest that chromium may potentate antidepressant pharmacotherapy for dysthymic disorder. Another study on chromium polynicotinate in rats prevented the sucrose-induced elevation of systolic blood pressure and decreased measures of lipid peroxidation.
Both forms of chromium reduce high serum glucose levels which can contribute to aging via a destructive process known as glycosylation, also called nonenzymatic glycation, in which glucose molecules bind to proteins and interfere with their function. People with diabetes have a highly increased rate of protein glycosylation and this plays a major part in their increased risk of atherosclerosis and many other diseases. For many with diabetes, chromium enhances the ability of insulin to lower serum glucose levels.
RNA (ribonucleic acid) is a nucleic acid that is found in the nucleus and cytoplasm of cells, where it plays an important part in protein synthesis and cellular renewal. Adequate amounts of RNA in the body are essential to every aspect of good health and well-being. Supplementation with RNA derived from yeast may support healthy cellular division, replication and repair; and help boost the immune system response.
Pomegranate extract is primarily composed of alkaloids and polyphenols. The active constituent that appears to be responsible for its multiple health benefits is Ellagic acid. Ellagic acid is a naturally occurring phenolic compound found in several fruits and nuts. Pomegranate extract has demonstrated a variety of beneficial functions including antioxidant and anti-viral activity. In 1996, a Nottingham, PA University research team learned that pomegranate extract could destroy several viruses nearly on contact. The discovery of this anti-viral activity instigated further experimentation and clinical trials. One study confirmed that Ellagic acid effectively protects cells from damaging free radicals. Additional phenolic compounds found in pomegranate known as anthocynadins (also well known scavengers of free radicals) combine synergistically with Ellagic acid to greatly augment pomegranate's potency as an antioxidant.
Of great importance is the pomegranate extracts potential use as a chemo-preventive agent. Initial experimentation by Stoner and Mukhtar showed that Ellagic acid decreased the number of chemically induced lung tumors by 44-75%. Mukhtar further illustrated that topical application of Ellagic acid provided protection against chemically induced skin tumors.
Ellagic acid has several mechanisms of actions by which it exhibits its chemo-preventive properties. Research by Barch et al. Demonstrated that Ellagic acid could actually bind to DNA, thus preventing its carcinogenic alteration. Additionally, Ellagic acid has been shown to induce the production of phase 11 detoxification enzymes through its manipulation of gene expression. With an increased concentration of these enzymes, various tissues ability to detoxify harmful compounds is augmented. Finally, Ellagic acid was found to be a potent inhibitor of tyrosine protein kinase, a molecule whose activity has been associated with the ability of certain viruses to transform normal cells into cancerous cells.
Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALCAR) is the minimally altered ester form of carnitine, a natural substance which the body synthesizes from the amino acids lysine and methionine. ALCAR has been found to be more effective in performing the beneficial functions of carnitine, particularly as they relate to the health and efficiency of the mitochondria. The three enzymes, which assist the mitochondria in producing the maximum energy from food oxidation, decrease as the body ages, allowing for more frequent occasions of free radical pathology. One of these enzymes is a complex directly responsible for practically all oxygen consumption in humans. As age causes the levels of this enzyme to drop, the levels of the body's master energy chemical, ATP, is also decreased. ALCAR is able to restore the efficacy of these enzymes in laboratory animals, thereby boosting mitochondrial energy to youthful levels and reversing the cellular damage that is the result of aging.
Carnitine is a nutrient that helps the body turn fat into energy. It is produced by the body in the liver and kidneys and stored in the skeletal muscles, heart, brain, and sperm.
Usually, the body can make all the carnitine it needs. Some people, however, may be deficient in carnitine because their bodies cannot make enough carnitine or transport it into tissues so it can be used. Some other conditions, such as angina or intermittent claudication, can also cause insufficient carnitine in the body, as can some medications.
Carnitine has been proposed as a treatment for many conditions because it helps reduce oxidative stress. Some of the conditions carnitine may help treat are serious, and in those cases, you should take the supplement under the supervision of your doctor, as an adjunct therapy to conventional medicine.
DMAE (2-dimethylaminoethanol) is known to stabilize cell membranes. Cell membrane degradation has been proposed as one of the prime mechanisms of normal aging. DMAE is a precursor to choline and acetylcholine. It is the choline inside cells that is converted to phosphatidyl-choline, used in the building and repair of cell membranes, especially in the brain.
Para-aminobenzoic acid, or PABA, is a naturally occurring, water-soluble non-protein amino acid, which is found in many foods (grains, eggs, milk, and meat) as a co-factor of the vitamin B complex (associated with folate). It has been used by some people to re-pigment the hair and was used in sunscreens for years because of its ability to absorb ultraviolet (UVB) light. As an antioxidant, PABA also provides protection against ozone, smoking, and other air pollutants which damage cell structures and membranes through oxidative stress.
Carnosine is a combination of two important amino acids, beta-alanine and L-histidine. It occurs naturally in the human body (mainly in muscle) and can also be found in many animals. Carnosine is easily broken down into beta-alanine and L-histidine, but the remarkable thing is that these two amino acids now work much more efficiently than they would have done if they hadn't combined to form L-Carnosine in the first place! While still combined together as L-Carnosine it has the unique ability to rejuvenate cells i.e. to make old cells younger and extend their life-cycle. L-Carnosine is the only compound commercially available that possesses this very rare and unique ability.

Alpha Lipoic Acid
Alpha lipoic acid is a fatty acid found naturally inside every cell in the body. It's needed by the body to produce the energy for our body's normal functions. Alpha lipoic acid converts glucose (blood sugar) into energy.
Alpha lipoic acid is also an antioxidant, a substance that neutralizes potentially harmful chemicals called free radicals. What makes alpha lipoic acid unique is that it functions in water and fat, unlike the more common antioxidants vitamins C and E, and it appears to be able to recycle antioxidants such as vitamin C and glutathione after they have been used up. Glutathione is an important antioxidant that helps the body eliminate potentially harmful substances. Alpha lipoic acid increases the formation of glutathione.
This synergistic blending of mineral properties makes bamboo silica an excellent and effective remineralizing agent for hair and nails, useful in cases of osteoarthritis, painful joints, fragility of the cartilage (osteoporosis), and in prevention of the consequences of arteriosclerosis. Also helpful in alkalizing the body.
Benfotiamine is essentially a minimally altered derivative of vitamin B1, also known as thiamine. However, while thiamine is water soluble, Benfotiamine is fat soluble, thus more easily integrated into cells.
It has been successfully used to treat diabetes-related conditions, such as neuropathy, deafness, blindness, retinopathy, and stroke. It has even been credited with reviving affected organs like the heart and kidneys. Benfotiamine also has the ability to balance glucose metabolism in cells, thereby inhibiting the glycation and inflammation processes, two of the causes of premature aging. In addition, recently conducted studies indicate that Benfotiamine may be beneficial in the treatment of a wide variety of neurological illnesses, such as Bell's palsy, Parkinson's, tinnitus, and Tourette's syndrome, with no known adverse side effects or drug interactions.
Protein and cofactor components are the basic minimum compositional duo present in all enzymes. The cofactor can take the form of vitamins, mineral ions, or both. When the vitamin form is in play, it is generally referred to as a coenzyme. Occurring naturally, CoQ10 is possibly the most crucial molecule for sustaining health and life itself, affecting all organs and tissues due to its respiration-enhancing presence in every cell.
Its main function is maximizing each cell's oxygen uptake, facilitating greater mitochondrial energy production. The heart, liver, and cellular components of the immune system contain the greatest concentrations of CoQ10. The treatments of cardiovascular diseases, such as congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, angina, arrhythmias, and hypertension with CoQ10 have shown consistent and significant beneficial results.
There are different forms of CoQ10 and, as with most supplements, the natural form is the more desirable. Like so many other substances, levels of CoQ10 diminish as we age, allowing for the concomitant drop in oxygen levels. The presence of oxygen in each cell is vital in performing all its various functions, including the prevention of disease and premature aging. In addition to CoQ10's capabilities in restoring and maintaining organ health, benefits have also been seen in skin condition, hair growth, and energy levels.
Giant Knotweed (resveratrol)
Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant that is able to slow down the aging process and even reverse signs of aging. It is also powerful in reducing the incidence of diseases related to age such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and alzheimers. And yes, it reduces fine lines and wrinkles too.
Resveratrol has become quite the buzz; in fact, it's being referred to as the elixir or youth. Not surprising since it can make you look and feel younger inside and out. That is because as an antioxidant it does such a great job of removing the free radicals from the body that wreak havoc by damaging cells, and cause you to age.
Benefits and Functions of Boron
Boron helps to regulate the body's use of calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium. During experiments at Rutger's University, it was discovered that the main task of this mineral was to control cell growth. It enhances brain function, promotes alertness, and plays a role in how the body utilizes energy from fats and sugars. Most people are not deficient in boron. Memory and brain function can be improved with boron. It thus helps to prevent abnormalities in growth.
L-Cysteine is beneficial in numerous ways. It is important in detoxification and in the formation of skin, as well as the repair of hair and nail tissue. It is used in producing antioxidants and protects the brain and liver from damage due to the consumption of alcohol, drugs and cigarette smoke. L-Cysteine helps defend against harmful toxins and protects the body from damage caused by radiation.
Other benefits include reducing the effects of aging on the body. It also promotes healing of severe burns, fat burning and helps build muscle. L-Cysteine also promotes the activity of white blood cells. There are numerous other benefits including the effectiveness in treating bronchitis, angina and acute respiratory distress. L-cysteine helps to maintain optimal health and enhances immune system function.
N-acetyl Cysteine (or NAC) is a more stable form of the amino acid L-Cysteine. As a precursor to L-Cysteine, NAC and helps the body synthesize Glutathione. NAC possesses antioxidant properties that may help fight cell-damaging free radicals. Studies have shown that oxidative stress caused by free radicals may contribute to premature aging of cells.
Boswellia is an Ayurvedic plant that contains anti-inflammatory triterpenoids called boswellic acids. Boswellic acid and its derivatives have anti-carcinogenic, anti-tumor, and blood lipid lowering activities. Dried extracts of the resin of the boswellia serrata tree have been used since antiquity in India to treat inflammatory conditions.
Green Tea Extract
Green Tea has long been used by the Chinese as medicine to treat headaches, body ache, poor digestion and improve well being and life expectancy. Green Tea extract is a bioflavanoid rich and one of it's main uses is fighting free radicals in your body. Green tea extract contains high levels of polyphenols and it's also a rich source of EGCG, a very powerful antioxidant.
The EGCG in green tea extract protects against digestive and repiratory infections, blocks the actions of carcinogens which promote cancer, is anti-bacterial and also helps lower cholesterol levels.
Green tea is also a common ingredient in many fat burners. It helps with thermogenesis and helps the metabolism of fat, working while not increasing the heart rate. Green tea extract also helps reduce the risk of heart disease, cancer and has been recently shown to help prevent liver failure.
The Eight Essential Glyconutirents
Mannos is the chief of the essential supper critical nutrients sugars. it helps strengthen the excretion system and helps to defend against bacterial infections.
Galactose coexists with lactose. As with all 8 super critical nutrient sugars, it is vital for intercellular communications. It promotes wound healing, decreased inflammation, and stimulates needed calcium adsorption.
Fucose is found in healthy mother's milk, and transfers immunity to newborns. It is important for proper nerve function, kidney health, reproduction systems and hydration of your skin.
Glucose enhances memory, stimulates calcium adsorption and increases cellular communication.
Xylose is an antibacterial and antifungal. It promotes the growth of healthful flora in your intestines, therefore maximizing nutrient adsorption which in turn strengthens your immune system.
N-acetylneuramic acid (sialic acid) is vital to many body fluids including, serum, cerebrospinal, saliva, amniotic, and mother's milk. It is an immune modulator that benefits many things and it is a poweful antiviral. It is 1000 times more potent than antiviral drugs used to fight influenza.
N-acetylglactosamine helps in the prevention of many diseases. Evidence reveals it helps in tumor reduction and in promoting healthful heart cells. It is also the key in promoting joint health and is also anti-inflammatory.
N-acetylglucosamine found in the brain, thyroid, liver, small intestine, testes, epithelial cells of the endocrine and sebaceous glands, and endothelial cells of blood vessels. It is presumed that it plays a crucial role in all these tissues and organs.
Lecithin contains all the phosphatides found naturally in cell membranes. Lecithin works by increasing the cell membrane ratio of phosphatidylcholine/phosphatidylethanolamine to cholesterol, maintaining cell membrane structure and increasing cell membrane fluidity.
Glutathione (gamma-L-glutamyl-L-cysteinyl-glycine) is a peptide (short protein)-like molecule synthesized in the body from the three amino acids L-glutamic acid, L-cysteine, and glycine. Glutathione is one of the body’s most important and powerful antioxidants, helping to detoxify xenobiotics. A major function of vitamin C is to keep glutathione in its reduced form so that they can continue to provide free radical quenching effects.
Even though many published studies show that garlic, selenium, alpha-lipoic acid, L-cysteine, and N-acetylcysteine can boost cellular glutathione levels, people with health problems may benefit from taking high doses of glutathione.
There are many health benefits of turmeric. These benefits also come from curcumin, which is an ingredient in turmeric. Turmeric is the spice from India that is used in curry dishes. Curcumin is the part of turmeric that gives curry food its golden color. This also provides turmeric with curcuminoids, which are believed to have health properties such as antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities. (Note: Turmeric is often mis-spelled as "tumeric.")
Turmeric benefits have been known for centuries and have always been an important part of Chinese herbal medicine and also the Ayurvedic medicine of India. This natural food is believed to support liver health, help prevent bad cholesterol, and it is being studied for its ability to block tumors.
In laboratory studies at the University of Texas, preliminary research found turmeric to be useful in preventing and blocking the growth of cancer such as melanoma tumor cells, breast cancer, colon cancer and other cancers.
Some researchers believe there also appears to be some kind of association between reduced rates of leukemia and colon cancer, and populations of countries that consume a diet with higher amounts of curcumin from turmeric.
Research shows that due to astaxanthin's potent antioxidant activity, it may be beneficial in cardiovascular, immune, inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases.
While it does function as a carotenoid antioxidant, research has shown that lycopenes are more efficient antioxidants than carotenoids.
Some research has suggested potential as an anti-cancer agent.
Some research supports the assumption that it may protect body tissues from oxidative damage.
Cinnamon Bark Extract
Cinnamon Bark has been used throughout history, and across most cultures, as a culinary spice, for herbal bath decoctions and as a food remedy to maintain healthy blood sugar balance. Cinnamon contains the constituent, cinnamaldehyde, found in the volatile oil fraction of the plant. Cinnamaldehyde has potent antioxidant actions, protecting cells from oxidative damage, and supporting healthy fat and cholesterol balance within the normal range. Cinnamon bark also contains polyphenolic polymers that support healthy insulin and blood glucose balance within the normal range, and promote healthy blood flow.
Cinnamon bark studies show favorable results for its efficacy in promoting healthy blood sugar levels by maintaining a normal range, and protecting cells from oxidative damage. Maintaining a healthy blood sugar level is critical to promoting optimal health and is associated with healthy vision, heart/circulation, kidneys and a healthy nervous system.
Cinnamon bark also supports the liver and pancreas and promotes the healthy functioning of insulin and other glucose regulating factors in the body.
Beyond its well-documented actions in enhancing blood glucose metabolism, numerous studies have demonstrated cinnamon bark extract's ability to promote healthy lipid metabolism, by providing antioxidant protection and by maintaining a healthy glycemic response. In one clinical trial, researchers reported that cinnamon bark supplementation not only promoted healthy glucose balance, but also demonstrated a statistically significant action on supporting healthy lipid and triglyceride balance.
In preliminary studies on animals, 7-Keto DHEA stimulates the immune system, prevents muscle loss (anti-catabolic), reduces stress, increases the calorie-burning rate by activating thermogenic liver enzymes and improves memory more than DHEA or a placebo. Monkeys infected with the simian version of HIV displayed weight gain, a five-fold increase in T-cell counts and improvement in overall behavior and clinical condition.
7 Keto will enhance the Thyroid by helping in the conversion of T4 to T3 in the liver.
Inositol is a key intermediate of secondary messengers and a primary component of cellular membrane phospholipids which is involved in a number of biological processes. Inositol has been found to be essential for calcium and insulin signal transduction, and serotonin activity modulation. Recent research indicates inositol is beneficial for stabilizing moods.
